Just Drop A Harmony In

It has been an interesting and productive few weeks for the single which we are pleased to say is finished. We have been working on a few finishing touches and deciding on the B-sides to go with it.

Now the nice surprise…

About a month ago we saw a tweet from Ravi Kesavaram (My Vitriol) offering his services to mix and master any tracks. We decided to send a message and to our surprise we got a reply. After a few messages and calls Ravi was more than happy to have a listen to the track and got to work right away. To say that we are pleased with the results is an understatement, the track has been brought to life and seems to capture our live sound. Ravi has even put some harmonies in the chorus which has added a whole new layer and dimension to the track. We would like to say a massive thank you to Ravi for putting so much of his time and effort into the track, and for producing a fantastic result!

I Said No will be the first release with Jack on board and there are plenty more on the way!

We would also like to say a massive thank you to Natalie who sent us a great selfie which we just had to use as the artwork!

All that is left to say for now is September 21st is the date you need put in your diary, and 59p is what you need to save from your paycheck!

Keep it Purple!

I Said No will be available on iTunes, Spotify and all other online services from 21st September 2018.

The track list will comprise of…

The Life We Made

Read – Between The Lines

After spending a weekend in a tent with warm beer, and a pack of hobnobs for company its back to normal civilised living for us.  We had an amazing time at Warton Music Festival and cant thank everyone who was involved enough for making us feel so welcome.  We hope we get ourselves an invite back for next year after a great debut in our opinion obviously.

Its time to look forward to our next release which we have been working on now for quite sometime at Shabbey Road.  Our new single “I Said No” is starting to take shape.  We have a little surprise in store for this one, that we cant say to much about at the moment but will be announced in the next few weeks or so. Its taking us longer than usual but we have our reasons this time, after all there are finelines between just good and great. As things stand it will be a 3 track single which will be available on all the usual music download and stream sites iTunes, Spotify, Amazon etc.

We would like to thank all of you who submitted your selfies, we have decided on our favorite and have completed the cover design.  There is a teaser below of the artwork for I Said No.  The full reveal of the cover will be in the next few weeks along with a release date.

The next gig is at The Robin 2, Bilston supporting Motorheadache (Motorhead) August 16th.  Tickets are £11 from us of £12.50 on the door, so save yourself half a pint or a lemonade and message us for tickets.

So until then peace out

Introducing Purple Stereo

Its been a hectic few weeks….

Firstly would like to apologize to everyone who was due to come to the Giffard Arms, Wolverhampton to see us, but in the end Paul just wasn’t well enough to play.  We would only want to play if we are all at 100% and didn’t feel it would be fair to everyone who had paid to see us and unfair to the venue and other bands to have us not at the races!

There are a few dates that are unfortunatley being cancelled/re-arranged which are…

June 23rd Castle & Falcon (being re-arranged)

September 9th Stourport Civic (Cancelled by promoter)

We have taken a small break to re group and will be back at Shabbey Road this week to resume recording.  We are hoping to have some new music ready in time for July.

On a more positive note it was amazing to hear ‘Dead Man’s Soul’ on BBC introducing!  A massive thank you to Louise Brierley and Jack Parker at BBC WM introducing for playing Dead Man’s Soul and giving us a shout out!

To keep the positive vibe going next outing on the horizon is our debut appearance at this years Warton Music Festival.  We cant wait for this one, we are playing on Sunday but will be around the whole weekend soaking in the atmosphere and beer!

Have a watchful eye on the Twitter and Facebook for any update and gig announcements.

Do I Detect A Hint Of Pigeon?

Well it’s been a while since our last blog post and a lot has happened… it seems to have flown by.

Firstly would like to officially welcome Jack Bayliss to Purple Stereo. Jack did an awesome job filling in at late notice for the gig at the Robin 2 in January and since then has joined full time!

Now Jack is up to speed we have some gigs pencilled in for the rest of the year as well as some new material which hopefully will get released later in the year.

The most exciting news is that Purple Stereo will be at this years Warton Music Festival alongside a host of great bands including The Pigeon Detectives. The rumours so far are that Purple Stereo will be in attendance all weekend in a ten man tent! Just rumours at this time of course! Warton Music Festival is July 20th to 22nd, at Bentley Farm, Tamworth. We can’t confirm which day we will be playing at this time but as soon as we know you’ll know! Tickets are available from the official website http://www.wartonmusicfestival.co.uk more bands are still to be confirmed.

Our next outing sees us return to the Actress and Bishop in Birmingham courtesy of the legendary Catapult Club, gracing the stage on March 24th.

More shows are in the pipeline so keep a look out for those popping up via Facebook and Twitter and our Official site.

We will see you at the Actress!!

Got any Merch!?

Right time for the standard post gig blog that I enjoy writing, but does anyone read I wonder!?

First of all massive thanks to Mark and Percy’s for having us back and for another great night! Percy’s is fast becoming out favourite gig. The staff are brilliant and everyone who comes along to watch is always having a great time and always asks us for more which we came prepared for this time….we’ll sort of.

It was a pleasure to meet and play alongside Scream Of Sirens(pet) those girls rocked it! Hopefully we will get to play alongside them again. So a great night all round and hopefully we can get back to Percy’s soon.

A few things to let you know all know about is 1… the official website address has now changed to www.purplestereo.wixsite.com/psuk after a horrendous experience with our account at moonfriut who I don’t mind name dropping to say how poor the service provided actually was!

Also we are back at Shabbey Road tonight to put the finishing touches to a set of 3 singles we have lined up for release in the near future…. dates to follow.

And finally we are well into the darts tournament with a few minor upset but favourite Fletch proving hard to beat, other conclusions are that non darter Jon is better than Neil “the badger” Worsfold!!

Out Of The Black & Into The Red…

It’s been a while since our last blog, but we have been busy at shabbey road getting some new songs rehearsed and spent a lot of time mixing tracks before we release them. No official date yet but once we are happy with them we will be getting them live! Next gig is our return to Percy’s in Whitchurch 16th September and it was an amazing gig last time out and looking forward to getting back there!

So until then here’s some proof of how busy we have been at Shabbey Road……

Review From The Robin 2

We are still busy writing and recording at Shabbey Road but here is a little review from our gig with the Sex Pissed Dolls at the Robin 2.

Here is our bit….

So we’re coming up to Christmas and what better way to celebrate than have five young ladies pounding out a mixture of punk classics and original songs. By the name you might be forgiven thinking that the Sex Pissed Dolls are just a bunch of girls playing at being a Sex Pistols tribute – but you’d be wrong, far wrong in fact. These girls can play, and they play very well indeed and despite the band’s name they play a totally mental mixture of good old fashioned punk classics mixed in with songs written by the band. All of which made for a mad night in Bilston.

Support on the night was provided by Purple Stereo, from just up the road in Willenhall, followed by The Bitten, from Wolverhampton.

Both bands brought their respective supporters along to swell the numbers and both supplied a mix of rock and punk delivered with much vim and vigour which was pretty bloody good.

Purple Stereo opened the proceedings with a set of half a dozen songs, all of which can be heard on Souncloud if you missed the gig or just fancy reminiscing. The band started with Dead Man’s Soul from the EP of the same name. The five songs that followed were all good, solid rock music that warmed the spirits on what was an otherwise dismal night outside. These lads have a very accomplished and likeable sound, nothing too extreme just good quality original music that’s easy to listen to. These are a band worth going to see if they play near you. The songs will all appear on their next album but not before they release their new single, I Said No, and supporting video which are in production right now. You can keep up with what the band are doing by visiting their website: www.purplestereo.com
